Luddenden Foot does not trip off the tongue as one of the nation’s favourite beauty spots but in fact millions admire the magnificent grandeur of the region’s scenery weekly on television! Whilst only eight miles from the busy town of Halifax, Luddenden Foot itself is a place of beauty, peace and tranquillity where the Yorkshire Moors can be enjoyed to their full advantage. We are in located here, in the Calder Valley.
As you might imagine, this is a wonderful area in which to live for those who are healthy, active and who enjoy a busy social life. The “natives” are known to be extremely friendly and hospitable so an outsider moving to this region feels welcome and part of the community from the word go. Life, though, doesn’t always work this way and through nobody’s fault, the people excluded, tend to be the elderly and infirm. Age creeps up on us all without notice, with advancing years can come a breakdown in health, partners and lifelong friends may have passed away so loneliness, not experienced before becomes a major problem. The elderly and infirm may be fortunate in having loving friends or relatives to care for them but this can create a long term feeling of guilt on the part of the elderly person themselves and frustration on the part of the carer who is trying to juggle these tasks in addition to their other responsibilities. In these circumstances the Generation Gap can become a chasm of immense proportions with resentment creeping in, just like old age itself!
At High Lee Residential Home our role is to create a better quality of life, not just for our guests but for you, the loving relative or friend. In order to achieve this we provide a friendly, warm, comfortable environment for our mainly older guests and a place where friends and relatives are welcome to visit. We accommodate a maximum of 12 guests so immediately there is that welcoming, friendly, family atmosphere to enjoy. Most of our rooms, all of which enjoy glorious views, are for single occupancy, with one exception which can be shared if desired. Diets, even “fads” are catered for and our friendly, qualified staff are on hand at all times.
The High Lee Residential Home in the Calder Valley is where charismatic characters may while away their days, aware of an air of contentment and another fruitful day well spent. We have the same philosophy at High Lee Residential Home where there is also a programme of activities in which our guests are invited to take part, but only if they wish, of course.
